More than 2 million gallons of jet fuel is pumped through the Anchorage International Airport Fuel Farm facility each day. And at any one time the tanks are holding over 15 million gallons of fuel. This immense facility is operated by just a few technicians. To adequately and securely monitor a facility of this size is nearly impossible without either hiring more people or installing a complete video surveillance system.

The Portage Valley in Alaska was carved out by a receding glacier. Winds often reach speeds over 100 miles per hour throughout the year, temperatures plunge below zero, and rain and snow is present more than half the time. But it is still a famous destination that the Park Service wanted to share. So a stunning Visitor’s Center made of two foot thick walls of concrete was built to withstand the elements. It cost more than twice as much to build in materials than a typical building 50 miles away.

We have all seen it. One day we hardly notice a clean wall in our neighborhood or where we shop. The next day we cannot help but notice the same wall, now ugly with spray paint graffiti. It can create animosity in our community. It can destroy intangible worth and a sense of security. And it is destructive. TecPro has a different kind of story about some young skateboarders who got a surprise after they decided to graffiti a new pedestrian tunnel built just for their neighborhood’s convenience and safety by the state of Alaska.
